NJ Community Organizer Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Execute field plans to meet outreach and engagement goals
- Build and manage relationships with allied organizations and coalition partners across New Jersey
- Coordinate endorsements and joint advocacy actions, such as recruiting people to testify at the legislature, empowering voters to contact their legislator, etc.
- Engage local elected officials, community stakeholders, and voters in key legislative districts
- Identify and engage potential opposition organizations with outreach aimed at neutralizing or converting their opposition
- Represent the campaign at meetings and events as needed
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
- Support legislator comment collection through connecting with voters in high traffic areas
- Track and report daily metrics
Requirements:
- Strong commitment to the campaign’s issue and mission
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- New Jersey campaign or advocacy organizing experience
- Existing relationships within New Jersey civic, political, or community organizations
- Experience managing coalitions or partnerships
- Comfortable navigating politically sensitive stakeholder relationships
- Available for immediate start
Contract: Part-time or full-time, short-term
Compensation: Hourly or flat rate, commensurate with experience
Location: Remote/flexible with in-state travel required
