This position offers a unique opportunity to shape policy, develop legislation, and work with lawmakers and their staff on bipartisan issues of national importance. With Honor Action is a cross-partisan non-profit whose mission is to strengthen democracy by fighting polarization in the U.S. Congress with principled veteran leadership. With Honor Action works alongside the bipartisan For Country Caucus of 37 veterans in the U.S. House and with a group of 11 bipartisan Senators who are committed to the With Honor pledge. Responsibilities include:
- Researching and analyzing issues related to Congress, with a focus in national security, national service, and veterans affairs
- Creating and coordinating legislative advocacy, including working with House and Senate offices to pass laws
- Monitoring legislative developments within House and Senate Committees and on the House and Senate floor
- Developing and maintaining legislative trackers
- Drafting legislative endorsement memos
- Attending events and building relationships with Congressional offices and other organizations, including veteran service organizations
- Other responsibilities as needed in a fast-paced, high-impact organization, including support for external communications
Desired skills:
- An understanding of Congress and the legislative process
- Familiarity with the policy areas of interest to With Honor, including national security, national service, and veterans’ affairs
- Experience working on the Hill as an intern or junior staffer
- Experience with the National Defense Authorization Act
- Knowledge of the annual appropriations cycle
- Experience writing legislative memos and text
- Ability and desire to build bipartisan relationships
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously in a fast-paced professional environment

Terms:
- Full-time, in-office, Washington DC-based
- Salary range of $65,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience
