Urban Rural Action's Mission

Urban Rural Action is a national grassroots movement that brings together Americans across divides to tackle our country's most urgent challenges.

Program Overview

The Uniting to Prevent Targeted Violence program aims to prevent targeted violence in south-central PA (Adams, Dauphin, Franklin, and York counties) and lay the groundwork for peaceful elections in 2024 and beyond. The program will have two key focus areas:

  1. Build social cohesion across divides, and
  2. Form threat assessment and management teams that will implement violence prevention interventions with community partners.

Essential Requirements for Program Coordinator Role

  • Strong willingness to engage with viewpoints different from your own
  • Familiarity with UR Action approaches of constructive dialogue and joint problem-solving
  • Comfort discussing the program with prospective community member participants and encouraging them to apply

  • Devote ~6 hours / week (15% of work time, assuming 40-hour work week) following kick-off through September ‘24
  • Participate in one-hour weekly Core Team meetings (to be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time) and all program gatherings, both in person across the four counties and on Zoom (dates to be determined during October kick-off)
  • Recruit participants to apply for the program

  • The hourly rate for this position is $35/hour in Year 1 (October ‘22-September ‘23) and will be adjusted upward in Year 2 to account for inflation
  • All transportation for travel to program gatherings will be reimbursed
