About The Contract

In 2023 and 2024, RepresentUs is supporting a campaign in Nevada to pass statewide open top-five primaries and Ranked Choice Voting in general elections (Question 3).

In November 2022, this campaign was supported by nearly 53% of Nevada voters. Because Question 3 is a constitutional amendment, it must be passed by voters in 2 consecutive elections to become law. From now until November 2024, RepresentUs is working in Nevada to ensure a final victory for Question 3 to secure a stronger democracy for all Nevadans.

The Field Organizer will work on the ground in Nevada to organize volunteers and voters and work with coalition members in support of the Question 3 campaign. This position is based in Nevada.

The Field Organizer will help organize and support RepresentUs local action teams in the state and plan and execute events and training, under the supervision of RepresentUs staff and in close coordination with the official local Question 3 campaign. The Field Organizer will also assist RepresentUs in collecting, assembling and standardizing data and reports on our organizing efforts in the state.

The Field Organizer will submit regular reports to the State Director.

Contract Deliverables

• Support RepresentUs local volunteer chapters
  • Recruit volunteers – Build a volunteer base through relational community outreach.
  • Mobilize Constituents - Use digital tools including peer-to-peer text tools, VAN, and Every Action to mobilize Oregon voters for RCV and other RepresentUs priorities.
  • Develop leaders – Train volunteers to take on immediate leadership and develop ongoing leaders. Work with RepresentUs state leaders to grow their core team to at least 10 committed volunteers.
  • Support the local campaign - Work directly with staff on the local campaign to support coalition organizing work. Plan, assist with and execute events, and support a collaborative working relationship with RepresentUs, local volunteer coalition leaders and the campaign staff.
• Organize campaign events to support the campaign strategy
  • Work with local leaders to organize and support 10 local events, including LTE-writing parties, info sessions, tabling events and house parties. These may be held in person or remotely via zoom.
• Participate in strategic planning, administrative tasks, and internal meetings as necessary.
  • Reporting and data tracking to monitor campaign progress with daily and weekly reports.
  • Maintain an up to date database and new supporter contacts.
  • Join regular organizing team meetings, and participate in Local Action team support planning.

Skills and Experience

Must have:

• 3-5 years of organizing, advocacy or other relevant experience.
• Based in Nevada with ability to travel throughout the state
• Great people skills and experience working with community based organizations
• Self starter and problem solver.
• You’re not afraid of a challenge and will hit the ground running.
• Comfortable learning and applying new skills quickly.
• Commitment to working beyond partisanship – experience with cross-partisan coalitions is preferred.
• Must have valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and be able to travel regularly around the state.
• Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends as needed to accommodate event schedules.

Additional Desired Attributes:

• Recruiter who’s able to mobilize community and personal networks and/or use creative ideas to build a group of people quickly.
• Passion for electoral reform, voting rights, and/or good governance issues.

Compensation and Benefits

$5,000-6,000 per month depending on experience. Eligible travel costs are also available for reimbursement.

The NV Field Organizer is an Independent Contractor position.
