About the Fellowship The Move for America Fellowship is a paid, service learning experience and Inclusive Leadership training program. As a Fellow, you will move across America's cultural, political, and geographic fault lines to live, learn, and serve in a local nonprofit to engage community members in decisions that affect their daily lives. This Fellowship Program is an opportunity for you to expand your horizons and practice inclusive problem solving through a full immersion across cultural and ideological differences in the United States.

Responsibilities During the year of service, Fellows work full-time from June 2023 to June 3, 2024 at a matched host site organization on defined community-engagement activities. Each site is unique. The scope of each project and activity will vary based on the host site and according to the following overall annual plan:

Listen, Plan, Implement, and Deliver

The Move for America Fellowship is meant to be a transformative experience that builds Fellows’ cross-cultural knowledge, Inclusive Leadership mindset and community engagement skills. It is a Fellow’s responsibility to fully participate in activities planned for Fellows, and in the life of the community.

Values Move for America holds our staff, advisors, Fellows, and partners to the values of Respect, Growth, Openness, Community, and Accountability.

  • Respect - We respect ourselves and others. We have confidence in our own ideas while seeking to understand and value alternative perspectives.
  • Growth - We commit to continuous learning about ourselves and others, seeing our mistakes as opportunities to learn, and supporting others through challenge. We commit to humbly naming when we don’t know how to do something or need help.
  • Openness - We commit to open communication, and to taking risks to have hard conversations.
  • Community - We work collaboratively with each other and the communities where we live and serve. We listen first, and continuously seek to elevate diverse and divergent perspectives.
  • Accountability - We take responsibility for our actions and their impact on others.
