Description

The LWVUS Advocacy team is seeking policy interns to help support the League’s vital work advancing our federal legislative priorities and serving as a resource to our state and local affiliates.

The policy intern’s work plan will cover various responsibilities and assignments, including:

  • Researching and crafting memos around identified legislation or issue areas;
  • Contributing to educational materials and webinars to instruct the wider League field;
  • Supporting the work of state and local affiliates through research and legislative tracking; and
  • Any other advocacy priorities that arise during your tenure.

You will gain valuable experience to boost your policy knowledge and an insight into the nonprofit, nonpartisan, and democracy space and make great connections. This position can be fully remote outside of the DC area and has the option of in-person/hybrid if already in the DC area.

Internships are primarily focused on undergraduates who are seeking college credit. Funding may be available but is not guaranteed.

Application deadlines and start dates

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but applicants are encouraged to keep school deadlines in mind when applying. For best results, see the suggested timelines below:

  • Summer internship: Application should be submitted by March 31; the Internship runs from June-August. No longer accepting applications for Summer 2024.
  • Fall internships: Application should be submitted by May 31; the internship runs August-November.
  • Spring internships: Application should be submitted by September 30; the internship runs February-May.

Internship start and end dates are flexible according to school schedules.
