POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Governance and Transformation will be responsible for promoting nonprofit best practices, building capacity, identifying gaps and solutions, and providing rapid responses to the field. This includes:

  • Developing, aligning and enforcing key policies and processes to ensure the health of the League network
  • Managing the implementation of the League’s transformation blueprint to help expand capacity of the field to achieve the organization’s long-term goals
  • Building a strong and vibrant League entities and leaders

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • College degree, plus; A minimum of 5 years of nonprofit or association experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CAE a plus

SKILLS AND COMPENTENCIES:

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of DEI principles; ability to center DEI in work
  • Ability to connect with a wide variety of people across lines of differences; strong written and verbal communication
  • Familiarity with nonprofit governance and/or federated organizations
  • Experience working with volunteer leaders and developing curriculum for volunteers
  • Experience in change management preferred
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, flexibility, confidentiality, and diplomacy with staff and volunteer members and leaders
  • Flexibility in changing circumstances, able to deal with various issues, and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Alignment with the League’s mission and values; must be able to maintain a non-partisan approach to people and projects
  • Work well independently as well as with organizational entities
  • Strong attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to prioritize work
  • Familiarity with Salesforce a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The person in this position is primarily sedentary and needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and office machinery. The person must also be available to travel and walk longer distances to offices and events. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, and computer printer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally indoors and rarely exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate-to-low.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have experience navigating large, complex organizations through influence and collaboration. It is also essential that the person have experience in managing high-level relationships with discretion and in handing sensitive and confidential information. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote nonprofit best practices across the League network
  • Create and disseminate governance and nonprofit management resources for organization’s volunteers
  • Facilitate a strong, effective, and collaborative working relationship across staff teams
  • Provide training (from large groups to 1:1 coaching) to volunteer leaders and staff
  • Enforce protocols to address field challenges and provide rapid response as needed
  • Staff and serve as thought partner with board/volunteer committees and/or meetings as assigned
  • Deepen field understanding of core policy areas – nonpartisanship and diversity, equity and inclusion- to align with governance strategies, processes, and policies
  • Manage the organization’s transformation journey and implementation of associated system, culture and policy changes
  • Develop and promote leadership development processes, trainings, and resources for board and field
  • Stay current on emerging topics that are relevant to network leaders
  • Manage other projects/duties as assigned
Salary Description
$85,000 - $95,000
