The Director of Affiliate Partnerships will work closely with Interfaith Alliance members, affiliates, and partners around the country to support our bold policy agenda: democracy not theocracy, freedom not extremism, and education not indoctrination. The right candidate will bring a passion for these issues and an excitement to be the first point of contact for the activists and leaders in local communities across the country who are engaging with Interfaith Alliance.
This role reports to the Vice President of Programs and Strategy and may supervise seasonal organizing interns and consultants. The Affiliate Partnerships Director should expect to travel nationally between 25%-50% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
Affiliate development and recruitment (75%):
- Serve as the first point of contact for our growing network of state and local affiliates, coordinating responses from the national office to daily inquiries and requests
- Coordinate with other national staff to create resources for affiliates based on regular needs-assessments with and by affiliate leaders
- Recruit new affiliates and onboard new affiliates to the organization, with a goal of 60 affiliates (currently 27) by the end of 2026 as well as specific geographic targets
- Travel 8-10 times per year to visit affiliates and directly engage with them at an event or in planning sessions, alone or in partnership with other national office staff
- Assist with planning national affiliate convening once a year and other affiliate-focused national events
- Implement strategies to increase the religious diversity of our affiliate network and support interfaith engagement across lines of difference
- Under the direction of Senior Advisor Maggie Siddiqi, support the affiliate grant program
- Collaborate with communications consultants on amplifying the affiliate network
- Create virtual spaces for affiliates to weave together the network
State & local mobilization (20%):
- Collaborate with affiliates, partners, and members to plan, execute and evaluate advocacy campaigns at the state and local level (i.e. advocacy days, educational events, participation in cross-movement days of action)
- Document lessons learned from state and local advocacy to share with the national network
- When needed, travel in-person to assist with major advocacy campaigns
- Maintain excellent records of local organizing initiatives and provide regular updates at staff meetings
Represent the organization (5%):
- While traveling across the country to support affiliates and other mobilizing activities, represent the values and policy positions of the organization
- Engaging in public speaking at trainings, convenings, partner events, rallies, protests, marches, social media, news media, etc.
- Staff the organization’s exhibit at conferences
- In all interactions, consistently ask interested people to become a member of Interfaith Alliance by donating and to get engaged with our campaigns
Qualifications:
- Evidence of commitment to our issue priorities, either through professional or volunteer experiences.
- Ability to work at least 3 days a week in the D.C. headquarters on Capitol Hill, or if remote, regularly travel to D.C. every quarter to meet with the team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to interact with staff, partners, and other stakeholders
- Experience with grassroots and/or faith-based organizing models
- Strong track record of working with a national organization that has state and local affiliates/chapters/branches/groups, either from the local or national side
- Budget management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Facility and expertise with data management and the use of varied software systems;
- Flexibility to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced energetic culture;
- Strong organizational and time management skills; self-motivated with the ability to work independently;
- Humor, curiosity and energy to support the spirit of collaboration and learning among team members;
- Alignment with and enthusiasm for the mission and work of Interfaith Alliance.
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least 6-8 years of relevant work experience.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary range is $90,000-$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Interfaith Alliance also offers competitive benefits, including health insurance and paid vacation leave.
