Gifted Savings (GS) is looking for a mission-driven Head of Design to join us on our audacious mission to make the voluntary, direct, gifting of trillions of dollars of excess wealth held by the ultra-wealthy and those on the Giving Pledge to be the most simple, efficient and rewarding way to be philanthropic, while creating a widespread, diverse positive impacts in their communities.

Gifted Savings is creating a simple, scalable way for donors to gift excess assets, including stocks and bitcoin, directly to a large cohort of individual recipients – like all the residents of a city, or all the kids in a highschool. One innovation we are working to unlock is to use smart-contracts to allow donors to give away just the financial rights of their equity, while retaining the voting rights associated with their shares. We believe this innovation would unlock the path to much more generosity, especially from super-successful founders who hold onto their equity solely to control the direction of the companies they founded.

On the recipient side, we make it dead simple for ordinary people, many of whom may not otherwise have the chance to own appreciating assets, to hold and grow wealth through a portfolio of stocks and Bitcoin that vests and matures over time. These assets are held in individual Gifted Savings Accounts that are set up for each recipient, ensuring that people don’t need to hold the underlying equity or bitcoin themselves. Upon vesting, all assets are available to be cashed out easily via check or ACH.

GS is a registered 501c3 non-profit social enterprise founded by serial entrepreneur, Farhad Mohit, with over $1B in exits — Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate.

What you'll do:

Engage in key discussions with leadership, product teams, and stakeholders to align product visions and turn them into reality.
Champion an iterative, fast-paced, data-driven design philosophy – prototype, user test, launch, and learn from data plus user feedback to iterate further
Utilize your product design and website design expertise into an end to end experience and collateral for both recipients of Gifted Savings and donors.
As the team’s only full-time designer, be an equal partner with Head of Product to envision and translate product requirements into world-class UI / UX. Direct and collaborate with design contractors to maximize overall design throughput.
Delve into user personas, drive continuous discovery, devise and execute user tests, and swiftly iterate.
Collaborate regularly (live and async) with the product manager, developers, and the founder.

Who we're looking for:

You’re excited about our mission to make direct gifting and receiving of wealth possible at a large scale. You’ve got the passion to see it through because you crave big challenges and you’re motivated by the impact you can have.
A great day for you involves lots of hands-on time in Figma. You love digging in and quickly turning out iterations to test. You’re well versed in balancing your creative drive to explore many possibilities with the speed needs of a startup.
You’re a product designer who leans toward UX and usability(function) over visual design or brand design (form), but are most excited when both work.
You’re a proven A-player with a 7+ year track record of innovative design, increasing responsibility, and impact, ideally within startups or small organizations. We care more about talent and trajectory than years of experience.
You’re able to work independently and collaborate with others to iteratively solve problems in real-time. You like jumping on a quick Zoom to figure something out together.
You thrive working at startup speed. You’re skilled at keeping talented, speedy developers busy.
You bring a clear creative direction and are hands-on to ensure tight execution. You communicate your ideas and reasoning clearly, both visually and verbally.
You’re skilled at holding the larger vision in your mind, considering how each experience connects with the current user journey and future product roadmap.
You have strong interest, creative ideas, and some experience utilizing the latest, cutting edge generative AI tools for design.
You typically think mobile-first when designing interfaces. You keep up with emerging patterns and trends in UI/UX.
You have high empathy and want to understand your users in the best way possible. You understand the importance of meeting people where they’re at and the power of simple design to change the status quo.
You’re an honest, direct communicator who seeks out feedback.

Bonus if:

You have experience in the non-profit, social services space
You have experience working in small, tight-knit, fast-paced remote teams
You have an understanding or experience in smart-contracts or with Bitcoin.

Other Important Info:

The salary range is $125,000 to $190,000 for this remote, full-time position with excellent benefits. This range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, seniority, education, qualifications, certifications, and organizational needs. We reserve the right to modify this pay range at any time. Title will also be commensurate with experience.

You must have authorization to work in the United States. We are open to authorized candidates who currently live outside of the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide sponsorship for any of our roles at this time.
