The Opportunity:

The Forward Party is building a new party to provide the infrastructure necessary to introduce real competition to the political arena outside the 2 party duopoly. We are looking for a leader to help construct and execute the political strategy to support pragmatic and commonsense candidates across the country.

The Forward Political Director will be a hard-driving, experienced political campaign operative who will run day to day execution of tactics and management of professional consultants and leaders - and state by state political relationships.

The Political Director will work with Forward Board members and the CEO to translate a four-year strategic plan into actions that will ensure the Forward Party is able to grow into its goals for the ‘28 cycle.

This work will require driving on internal accountability, managing both direct reports and external stakeholder relationships, and building relationships through trust and support with state leadership teams and candidates and elected officials.

• Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations:
  • Work with Executive Team to create a plan that will translate multi-year goals into annual targets, and then manage teams and projects to ensure targets are hit
  • Working with the CEO and relevant Board members to drive on work relevant to the Political Department (e.g., candidate endorsement considerations) and maintain transparency
  • Oversee development of teams and internal processes related to candidate recruitment and support; elected official recruitment and community building; state party development; and volunteer deployment
  • Oversee development of state parties, both through training the leads into the skills necessary and evaluating them to elevate those ready to build to the next step
  • Manage budget and make recommendations as to resource allocation between different priorities (i.e., prioritizing candidates and state parties with resources that will help national goals)
  • Define the need for, vet, and contract with political consultants as needed, and coordinate their work
  • Optimize the relationships between the CEO state party leadership teams

  • 8-10 years of campaign experience in multiple states, or at the national level - any party affiliation welcome!
  • Understanding of campaign finance regulations and experience operating within these constraints
  • Ability to travel regularly and throughout the country
