Position Overview

Forward California is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the volunteer Onboarding and Training Coordinator. This leadership position reports directly to the California Co-chairs of the Forward Party. You should expect to be able to allocate up to 8 hours/week in this position.

This position will play a pivotal role in building a strong and engaged volunteer base. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing effective onboarding processes and training programs that empower volunteers to contribute actively to our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

This position will lead a remote team of volunteers to assist with the following activities:

  • Develop Onboarding Procedures:
    • Design a comprehensive onboarding process for new volunteers, ensuring a smooth and informative introduction to the organization's values, structure, and goals.
    • Create welcome materials, guides, and resources to assist volunteers in understanding their roles and responsibilities.
  • Training Program Management:
    • Establish and execute training programs to enhance volunteers' skills, knowledge, and understanding of key issues.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and party leaders to develop curriculum content for various roles within the organization.
  • Coordinate Volunteer Engagement:
    • Work closely with leadership and key stakeholders to identify volunteer needs and align training programs accordingly.
    • Maintain regular communication with volunteers to assess their progress, address concerns, and provide ongoing support.
  • Technology Integration:
    • Utilize technology platforms and tools to facilitate remote training sessions and track volunteers' progress.
    • Explore innovative ways to incorporate e-learning and virtual resources into the training process.
  • Feedback Mechanism:
    • Establish feedback loops to gather input from volunteers regarding the onboarding and training processes, making continuous improvements based on their insights.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Contribute to the development of the party's long-term strategic plans, ensuring that volunteer onboarding and training objectives are aligned with broader organizational goals.
    • Participate in strategic discussions to shape the party's overall vision and direction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Political Science, Communications, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Previous experience in volunteer management, onboarding, or training roles is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools, social media platforms, and human resource management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine commitment to Forward values and an understanding of the unique challenges facing California.
