The impact you’ll make:

As part of the team, you will be responsible for supporting and empowering our government partners. This includes both front-line technical support and community building; we’re looking to you to strengthen relationships with the election administrators we serve to ensure they have a positive experience with Democracy Works.

  • Send data requests, coordinate delivery, and follow up with state and local election offices
  • Plan, schedule, and participate in calls with state and local election offices
  • Lead the program implementation process, connecting with partners, the USPS, mail vendors, and other relevant entities while coordinating with internal staff/engineers
  • Execute a plan to keep our partners engaged throughout the year and ensure that they’re prepared for elections as they approach
  • Serve as point person for incoming programmatic inquiries, drafting correspondence and directly replying when applicable. Formulate and maintain a script and other materials that can be shared and updated for tool(s) demos and promotion.
  • Update/maintain partner records, including contact information, open opportunities, activities and notes in CRM (ensuring records are updated on a regular basis).
  • Speak about and promote government initiatives and broader DW activities at events, including regional and national conferences or meetings a few times per year
  • Execute on other tasks as may be assigned.

You are:

  • Able to translate complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Able to build relationships and be diligent in following up on conversations and commitments.
  • Comfortable discussing technology, in general—we can teach you the specifics. You’ll be working in an organization of technologists, and you’ll be learning how to talk about the work that we do.
  • Extremely organized and attentive to detail.
  • Able to manage your own time and projects extremely well and accomplish goals independently (while asking for help where appropriate).

You have experience:

  • Working with external partners or stakeholders in some professional capacity
  • Working on, or adjacent to, the development of technology
  • Creating presentations and speaking in front of groups
  • Working with Salesforce or another CRM system
  • Working within non-profit organizations, political organizing, government outreach, etc.

How we work

Because elections take place everywhere, our employees work from practically every state in the union. We embrace working remotely as the default. Our positions require regular, daily use of a computer (including the use of G-Suite and Slack) to conduct work and communicate with colleagues. For those who prefer to work from an office, we are headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, and we provide support for co-working spaces around the country. We are happy to share more details about the office, including accessibility information, as on-site visits are planned.

Regular (weekly and monthly) meetings are expected with the supervisor for this role, as well as with colleagues and at conferences, both in person (when appropriate) and virtual. External-facing meetings are required for this role.
