Center for Democracy and Technology

Posted 6+ months ago

The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) is seeking a responsible, detail-oriented, and motivated Associate to join our Development & External Affairs team. This role will be instrumental in supporting our fundraising efforts, donor relations, and overall development strategies.

This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to participate in all areas of a fundraising team, including foundation, corporate, and individual giving as well as events and community-building functions.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Development & External Affairs, the Development & External Affairs Associate plays an important role by providing administrative support to the team; participating in all fundraising activities across the donor cycle—including prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship; creating marketing opportunities such as newsletters; and supporting community groups such as CDT’s Advisory Council and Alumni Network.

About CDT

CDT is a 30-year old nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that advocates to protect civil rights and civil liberties in the digital age. CDT fights for tech policies and practices that protect people’s rights and our democracy—in areas ranging from data privacy and AI, to government surveillance, to online content moderation, to elections, to the use of technology in education and government services.

CDT advocates to policymakers in the U.S. and Europe; engages with companies to improve their policies and product designs; shapes public opinion on major tech policy issues; and advocates in the courts. In addition to our advocacy work, CDT’s research team produces deep-dive original research to address pressing issues in technology policy.
