We are seeking a talented Help Desk Technician. Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the Help Desk Technician will be responsible for implementing and managing the day-to-day operation of the organization’s IT tasks and supporting our information technology program. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the Brennan Center’s technology and information assets are properly supported. As a Help Desk Technician, the candidate will possess impeccable tenacity as a support to the IT helpdesk and our audiovisual work.
Note: Brennan Center employees adhere to a hybrid schedule that is subject to change, with employees currently required to work in the office a minimum of three days per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. While most employees follow this in-person schedule, there may be some positions that require additional in-office days. This position is based at our headquarters in New York City and may require occasional travel to our Washington, DC office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Security
Work with Brennan Center management and staff and managed service providers to assess risks, establish priorities, conduct reviews, and implement solutions.
Ensure that required security control initiatives are executed on schedule and in line with the Brennan Center’s Information Security objectives.
Work with external vendors to ensure services are not interrupted or performed without errors or delays
Audio Visual Support
Transport set up, and install media equipment and audiovisual support tools, including speakers, monitors, cameras, and equipment racks.
Develop good relationships with staff to support audiovisual for their events and meetings.
Run tests on videos, audio, and signals and troubleshoot any problems that arise for events and meetings.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and disassemble equipment, wiring, and support tools in a safe manner.
Carry out any cleaning, maintenance, or repairs on audiovisual equipment.
Helpdesk and Systems Support
Support the day-to-day tasks related to the Company IT helpdesk.
Install and maintain operating systems and related software to ensure stable performance and configure and maintain technology or systems supporting an assigned business unit or functional area.
Monitor and patch updates for all the organizations devices
Evaluate system specifications, input and output processes, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
Troubleshoot networking and operating system problems.
Configure or re-engineer processes, systems, hardware, or software to meet business needs, assist with implementation, and provide post-implementation end-user support and maintenance.
Requisition hardware/software or tracking assets for the assigned unit.
Commit to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts.
Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma + Industry certifications
At least 1-2 years of experience in an IT- related position
Experience in project management
Experience with IT ticketing Systems
Experience with VOIP Phone Systems
General knowledge of AV Systems and experience with troubleshooting Audio and Video issues in conference rooms
Some knowledge of Systems Administrations for Microsoft Azure and Active Directory
Proficient with Office 365 administration and troubleshooting
Knowledge of backup processing and administration
Proficiency with MAC and OS management and troubleshooting
Experience with Apple MDMs
Experience with Printers and Copiers management
Experience with Endpoints

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range assigned for this role is $55,000 - $62,500 and has been determined based on market competitiveness. We determine our salary ranges based on market competitiveness and internal equity for each job. The salary offered a selected candidate will be contingent upon the candidate’s experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations. Additionally, we offer a very robust and competitive array of benefits such as a generous time off program, 401k plan, comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), and wellness and office perks.
In addition, this position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, UAW local 2320.
