BPC] is seeking a team member to plan and execute activities for BPC’s Energy Program. The successful candidate’s focus area(s) will be determined by the candidate’s expertise within the areas named below. BPC’s Energy Program brings together political leaders and policy experts to produce reports and recommendations and works with stakeholders and officials from both the private and public sectors to advance important policy objectives. The Associate Director position is versatile, and will work on a variety of tasks, often simultaneously. Candidates should be able to learn about new and evolving policy issues, interact with policy experts and political leaders, lead stakeholder engagement, and manage project timelines and workflows.
- Work with senior BPC staff to establish project work plans, set strategic goals, and ensure execution of all project activities.
- Lead development of a research and policy development plan on a range of energy and environmental policy issues with a focus (depending on the candidate’s expertise and the needs of BPC) on a subset of the following topics : permitting reform; FERC-regulated utilities, infrastructure and markets; federal and state electric power regulation; natural gas production, transmission, distribution and use; climate and trade including border carbon adjustments; critical minerals; nuclear; voluntary carbon markets and carbon accounting.
- Plan activities and oversee deliverables for designated workstream(s), which will include delegating research and writing assignments to multiple policy analysts and working with a team to achieve project timelines.
- Draft and edit major written work products, including white papers, reports, issue briefs, and fact sheets.
- Lead engagement with stakeholders, senior fellows, project principals and BPC task force members, including convening roundtables, task force meetings, and other high-level project meetings.
- Support energy project communications activities, including developing, reviewing and editing collateral. Support communications activities, including developing, writing, reviewing and editing collateral, including assisting with social media and other digital content
- Work with development team to draft grant proposals, grant reports, and support other donor management needs.
- Strong policy background in one or more of the listed policy subtopics with knowledge of the energy and environmental policy landscape, key stakeholders, and technologies
- Relevant advanced degree (or equivalent)
- At least 4-6 years relevant experience, with some management experience preferred
- Excellent quantitative and research skills
- Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
- Strong team player with a collaborative spirit
- Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with often overlapping deadlines while maintaining a high degree of thoroughness and accuracy
The work/life balance of employees is a priority for the Bipartisan Policy Center. As a result, BPC is currently operating on a hybrid schedule. Employees at BPC are currently coming into the office three times a week. Exact time and schedules will be determined between an employee and their manager.
